Tranmere Rovers unfold festive pleasure to Wirral Hospice St John’s – Information
Tranmere Rovers stars Josh Hawkes, Rhys Hughes and Paul Lewis dropped in at Wirral Hospice St John’s last week to surprise patients, staff and volunteers.
The visit was arranged following Friday’s training session as part of the EFL’s Small Businesses United initiaitve in collaboration with eBay, launched in August last year.
The trio took time to meet and greet people within the local community to spread some festive cheer, posing for photographs and autographing Rovers merchandise.
In addition, there is also a shirt signed by the squad up for auction until 30 December on Wirral Hospice’s eBay.
Diane Owens, Inpatients Ward Sister at Wirral Hospice, said: “It was really heartwarming to welcome Josh, Rhys and Paul into the hospice.
“The players were a real credit to their club. We can’t thank them enough for the gift of shirts donated to patients and their families, as well as those among our volunteers and staff who are season ticket holders at Rovers. It put a massive smile on so many faces.
“The hospice relies on the generosity of our whole Wirral community and, of course, Tranmere Rovers are a massive part of that. We are so grateful to them.”
