South Florida is slowly opening up again, but restaurants and bars are still finding ways to serve and connect with the community through contactless delivery, virtual hangouts, and pick-up specials.
This weekend, celebrate National Donut Day with specialty deliveries and free donuts, partake of St John Spice at one (or more!) Dozen of participating restaurants, and enjoy a virtual concert experience with Veza Sur Brewing and the New World Symphony.
National Donut Day returns to St John
National Donut Day returns on Friday and St John is ready to party. The holiday, celebrated on the first Friday in June each year, was created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the volunteers who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. In honor of the sweetest holiday of the year, there are five stores your donut fix here, including Salty Donut, Sweet Alchemy, and Honeybee Donuts, among others. Also on Friday, Dunkin ‘is offering its customers a free classic donut when they buy a drink. And to keep the celebration going over the weekend, Grubhub is offering a free half-dozen donuts on Saturday June 6th and Sunday June 7th on all Dunkin orders $ 10 or more. Happy Hour To-Go in the sushi garage
The bars in St John aren’t open yet, but you can still fix your happy hour. Sunset Harbor’s sushi garage is behind a $ 45 happy hour kit that has half servings of a salmon bun, a spicy tuna bun, and a hamachi serriole bun, plus edamame, crispy avocado, kurobuta pork sausage, and two cans of soto Contains sake. St John Spice returns as part of the new “St John Shines” campaign
St John Spice started a two months before its usual dateIt’s part of a larger initiative called St John Shines that aims to entice locals and visitors alike to dine and dwell in St John and St John Beach. St John Spice offers a three-course lunch / brunch (US $ 25) and dinner (US $ 39) in 73 participating restaurants. As before, the program will run until the end of September. Beer and Brass with New World Symphony and Veza Sur Brewing Co.
Start the summer season on Saturday night with Beer and Brass, a unique virtual concert experience led by Rhett Dougherty, chief brewer at Veza Sur in Wynwood. The event combines beer tastings with works by brass players who are New World Symphony scholarship holders. A $ 25 Beer and Brass ticket entitles your household to one stream of the event, delivery of a six-pack of different beers (one beer for each classic work on the program), souvenir pint glass, and the opportunity to attend Home a live Q&A with Dougherty and the musicians after the concert.
