Northern Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the inpatient unit at Fort St. John Hospital. A media release was issued Aug. 28, and noted three patients and two staff tested positive for the virus.
Enhanced outbreak control measures are in effect at the hospital, with Public Health officials closely monitoring for additional cases.
The enhanced measures include:
- Increased frequency of cleaning and infection control measures
- Enhanced symptom monitoring among all staff and patients
- Reducing movement of staff and patients between care areas of the hospital
The release says the situation will be monitored carefully over the next few weeks and that they will only declare the outbreak over once they are confident the chains of transmission have been stopped.
